[cups] How to enable printing

Hello all,

I have installed CUPS-1.5.3 on embedded linux. I have also installed
usblp.ko. CUPS backend usb recognizes the printer and also lpinfo -v
detects "direct parallel:/dev/lp0". I added a zebra printer using lpadmin
command. When I run "date > /dev/lp0", the printer is blinking once. But
when I try to print some file, there is not activity on the printer. BUt
the job is getting added to the print queue. Is there anything else I am
missing.
