OSX:  10.8.5
CUPS: 1.6.2

In CUPS, what determines what filters are run and the sequence?

If I add a .convs and a .types file to /usr/share/cups/mime, is there a priority
between the mime.types mime.convs and the added .convs and .types?  How are conflicts 
resolved?

Should the .convs and .types files have a certain name such as the name of the
backend or the printer queue name?

How does the "*cupsFilter:" statement in the PPD file fit into the filter scheme?

Is there a way to explicitly specify which filters to run and their sequence?
