The Mint log shows that the job is getting marked as completed.

The "waiting for job to complete" is just the last information message that
is set, but that should be cleared automatically when the printer goes
idle.

Since you are using a version of CUPS with third-party patches, I would
check with your Linux distribution to see whether they have changed how
printer-state-message is updated at the end of a job.
