Hi Michael,

Today I did the same test from an Ubuntu 14.04 distro resulting in the same
behaviour. The printer queue shows immediately "processing - print error".
The print job takes some time and at last (can take up to 3 minutes) the
print job is correctly forwarded to the windows system. The printer status
keeps saying "Idle - Waiting for job to complete". I have added this
error_log file as well (error_log_Ubuntu_14.04.txt).

You mentioned in that I'm using Cups with 3rd party patches. Does it mean
that Ubuntu and Mint are not using an original CUPS version and Fedora 20
does. If so how can I change to an original CUPS version and is my problem
then fixed

How can I check if my Linux distribution has changed how the
printer-state-message is updated at the end of a job. I would like to see
that the status is changed to Idle when finisched printing and the Printer
shows no red error icon. How can I sort this out?
