Hi Helge,
I managed to install HP LaserJet 600 M601 CUPS printer queue (A5) in Red Hat Enterprise 6 server. However, there is one critical "default tray" is no longer available in the last step of adding printer, compared to other existing CUPS driver such as HP LaserJet 4200. As a result, I am assuming that the following command to address different tray would work the same as in Solaris:
lp -d <queue_name> -o landscape -o tray3 report.pdf
lp -d <queue_name> -o landscape -o lower report.pdf
However, only a blank page was printed out to manual tray 1 on A4 paper even though I wanted to print to A5 Landscape paper on tray 3 or lower.
Please advice what is the correct Red Hat lp syntax to address individual tray including orientation. The report.pdf has the correct A5 dimension (5.82 x 8.26 inch).
I have attached this report.pdf and would appreciate if you could explain why a blank page is been printed out. It had been generated by JetPCL from report.pcl.
Many thanks again,
Jack

Hi Helge,
Thank you for giving a hand on an issue still outstanding for many days now. I have found another more useful information from https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/241029 and is in the process of testing this out, once the RedHat administrator installs hplip.
I will let you know of the outcome.

You should install the „hplip“ package (I suppose there is an installable package from RedHat).
That contains
– a cups filter named „hpps“ that implements additional features like job saving and secure printing,
– a PPD for use this printer as a PostScript printer.
As far as I con see, the only possibility for hplip to modify cups.conf is to use the utility to set the log level to debug
and back again, which is better done by using the cups utility cupsctl.
Hope this helps
