[cups] Problem printing in a Ricof aficio 3025 PCL printer

Dear all,

I got into a strange problem trying to print in a Ricoh Aficio 3025 
PCL/PXL printer (no PS support) from some linux distros. This is a 
common departmental network printer (I work in a university) accessed 
through socket://x.y.z.t; I was working until recently with Scientific 
Linux (SL, a rebuilding of Red Hat Enterprise Linux) 6.5, with cups 
1.4.2, printing more or less well, except some (not all) pdf files (the 
printers.conf amd .ppd files are attached). I upgraded my system to SL 7 
(cups 1.6.3) and cannot print pdf at all; I can print test pages, and 
libreoffice documents, but not .pdf files, no matter which viewer: I 
tested okular, evince, foxit (an outdated linux version) and qpdfview 
without success . I set up a spare partition and installed ubuntu 15.04 
(cups 2.02), got to print ok with the very same cups files attached; 
installed mageia 5 (cups 2.03), with the same attached files, but found 
the same problem: .pdf does not print. People in the department working 
with windows can print happily. Some people use ubuntu, they are able to 
print as well. In my machine, for several reasons I want to use SL, or 
at least Mageia, but this printing problem is a serious drawback for me. 
I am stuck, if someone can help, that will be appreciated.
