That "0a" is a stray newline in hex which is left over by the eexec
decoding. This is obviously an error of the program used to donvert
the PDF to PostScript (%Produced by poppler pdftops version: 0.18.4
(http://poppler.freedesktop.org) in my test environment).

I suggest to file a bug to the poppler developers (and a link to the
CentOS bug tracker.

That the working.pdf prints is due to the different glyph subset so that
the
stray "0a" is at the end of the previous line.

Note: the same bug is present in the pdftops utility from
http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf
(Version 3.03).
