[cups-devel] [UNKN] STR #4722: cups takes 100% cpu and messes up printing

cups-2.0.2-5.mga5 x84-64 and on i586
HP1300 printer connected via usb 1.1
Mageia 5 Linux 
a) Using Postscript driver, text and then many many blank pages come out.
Using cups+gutenprint, it works sometimes and then it will suddenly not
print out the last page of a job, and theprinter blinks as if data is
coming in, either for many many minutes. 

b) On using 192.168.0.2:631 to set up cups, and using gkrellm to keep and
eye on the cpu useage of the system, when I set up or the printer, the cpu
useage goes up to 100%. This continues for many minutes (5-10 or until I
restart cupsd)

runnning strace at this time, a whole sequence of epoll-wait commands are
running (thousands of them) and returning almost immediately.


c)on the same computer with the same printer and usb port, under Mageia 3
(cups 1.5.4-9) both cups and the printer work fine. No weird page not
printing, no 100% useage.

I have no idea if it is specific to this printer and computer, or if it is
more general.
