Hello Franz,

the maximum label length is set to 1 inch. In reference to the operation manual, the length can be overwritten by ZPL / DPL commands.
So I have attached the captured RAW ZPL data. May it possible that you can please send it to your ZPL printer to see there the result?
Taking a look at the end of the attached printer file, there is the Zebra command ^LL1184. That means label length with a value of 1184.
This value will be interpreted by the printer depending on the printing resolution:
203 dpi are 8 dot per mm. So 1184 are 148 mm, exactly A6. Everything well.
In line 8 and 9 are multiple ZPL commands in one line. Is this OK or should every ZPL command terminated by a <LF> ?

Best regards
Frank

Hello Frank,

I am far away from your printer ...

I do not know datamax printers. I working with Printronix and Zebra.

But take a look at the default paperlength on the machine.
Is there anything with calibration of paperlength?

Is the printout of the selftest working well?

Regards
Franz

Franz,

Your how to was successful, the print has the correct aspect ratio compared to the laser printed.
Small problem: the CUPS GUI shows for the Media Size A6 - 105x148 mm.
But the label printed from the continuous printer is 274 mm long. The label is placed at the beginning / end of the paper.
In CUPS Media Tracking is set to "Continous", Media Type: Direct Thermal Media, Print Mode: Cutter. All other set to "Printer Default".

How can I fix ist?

Best regards
Frank

At this version you need the cupsddk.

Change the sample.drv

Create the ppd vi ppdc sample.drv

After this you have to replace the zebra.ppd with the new build version.

Reconfigure printer / reconfigure the printer ...

Franz

Hi Franz,
Thanks for helping me. I'm running Centos 5 (Red Hat 5) with CUPS 1.3.7.32 I don't have a directory 'drv' in /usr/share/cups/

Anybody an idea for Centos?

Best regards
Frank

At ubuntu 15.10 you only hav to extend the sample.drv and restart cups/ reconfigure the printer

sudo vi /usr/share/cups/drv/sample.drv

1) add the mediasize a6

    MediaSize w576h360
    MediaSize w576h432
    MediaSize w576h468
MediaSize A6 << added at ZPL section

2) Restart cups
sudo systemctl restart cups.service

3)reconfigure the printers via web-interface 4)"set default option" at printer and choose A6

I added the papersize but I do not have checked the printout.

Regards
Franz

As – as far as I know – CUPS by default supports ZPL printers by converting the cups-raster format to ZPL graphics by the rastertolabel filter, it should be possible to define the A6 format simply ba editing the printer’s PPD.

For certainty, please post the printer’s PPD.
