Note that the ghostscript RPMs from the "Printing" project
in the openSUSE build service for SLE11 cannot
be "simply installed" without any issue on any
arbitrary SLE11 system.

In general the newest Ghostscript works for SLE11
but there are some backward incompatible changes
that one has to deal with, for example see
https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=873031#c2

Depending on what printer devices are used with what printer
drivers one does not need gstoraster and gstopxl that have
been removed from Ghostscript and are now provided by
cups-filters (separated software hosted by OpenPrinting).

But cups-filters is not available for SLE11 because
it does not build there (perhaps with some effort those
parts in cups-filters that are needed for the newest
Ghostscript in SLE11 can be made build for SLE11
but I never tried that).

Furthermore in SLE11 some applications need libgs.so.8
from Ghostscript version 8.x (excerpt on my SLE11 machine):
--------------------------------------------------------------
# rpm -e --test ghostscript-library
error: Failed dependencies:
...
libgs.so.8 is needed by libspectre1
libgs.so.8 is needed by evince
--------------------------------------------------------------

On a print server machine there should be no such end-user
desktop applications installed that link with libspectre
and/or libgs.so.8.

The "Printing" development project may contain
new software or work-in-progress changes of
existing software that might neither be in
a stable state nor fit well into currently
installed systems.
Have this in mind if you think about to install
packages from the "Printing" project into your
currently running system.
...
On the other hand this does not mean that those
packages are known to be terrible broken but
they are not thoroughly tested so that any
unexpected issue can happen.
In the end all software in the "Printing" project
are only applications which means that your system
should not "explode" when you upgrade with packages
from the "Printing" project (provided you use the
matching packages for your particular system).
If a new version does not work it should usually
help to downgrade (and to reconfigure as needed)
to get it working again.
When there are issues with the packages in the
"Printing" project we appreciate issue reports.
In this case see "How to Report a Printing Issue" at
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:How_to_Report_a_Printing_Issue

Kind Regards
