Dear Michael,

thank you for your extensive answer. I see that

 > /etc/cups/lpoptions (lpoptions as root)

also "controls" the output of `lpoptions -p Printer -l`.

Is there a cammand line way to retrieve options set by `lpadmin` even
though an /etc/cups/lpoptions file is present? Maybe using `ipptool`?

Parsing the files

 > /etc/cups/ppd/printername.ppd and
 > /etc/cups/{classes,printers}.conf (lpadmin stuff)

is tedious for PPD and unstable, since the conf files don't get updated
immediately after changes.

Thanks

Arney
