Thanks for your hint. I know your script.

But I want to run the system "out of the box".

This mean:

<Applikation output pdf> <cups-queue> <pdftopdf> <gstoraster> <rastertocab or similar>

If you are interested, you may get a filter, pdftops, from me which uses the pdftops utility from either www.foolabs.com/xpdf or the poplar based linux utility or Ghostscript or (not tested recently) a fairly old version of acroread to do the actual conversion.

The filter script is written in Perl (5.8.3 or higher) so that no compilation is needed if the mentioned utilities are installed.
