[cups] printer-state-message="Filter failed" ? is it cups, ghostscript, or other?

When Ghostscript fails it usually means its input
(in this case the PDF output from /usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftopdf)
is somehow wrong.

Latest Ghostscript 9.27 has extensively cleaned up the Postscript
name space: removing access to internal and/or undocumented
Postscript operators, procedures and data.

Perhaps the /usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftopdf PDF output contains such
Ghostscript internal and/or undocumented Postscript operators?

Wherefrom do you have your Ghostscript 9.27?
