[cups] Options for sharing and advertising when Avahi not built in...

I’m working on an embedded application and would like to know about how CUPS is shared… specifically:

1.   Can printers be shared and advertised via an Avahi service file instead of building the advertising support into the CUPS binaries at compile time?

2.   If so, is there any functionality lost by doing it this way?
