[cups] Taking forever to print a test page

I am running a debian linux server with cups 2.3.3

My printer is an HP LaserJet 1320, connected via USB.

Here is my configuration:

Description:
Location:
Driver: HP LaserJet 1320 Foomatic/pxlmono (recommended) (grayscale, 2-sided printing)
Connection:     hp:/usb/hp_LaserJet_1320_series?serial=00CNBC49638B
Defaults:       job-sheets=none, none media=na_letter_8.5x11in sides=one-sided


I checked the logs in /var/log/cups/error_log, but there was no indication of any kind of specific failure, just that it eventually gave up:

E [24/May/2020:01:36:36 +0000] Unable to open listen socket for address [v1.::1]:631 - Cannot assign requested address.
E [24/May/2020:14:06:33 +0000] Unable to communicate with avahi-daemon: Access denied
E [24/May/2020:14:06:45 +0000] [Client 1] Unable to encrypt connection: A TLS fatal alert has been received.

E [24/May/2020:14:19:51 +0000] [Client 158] Unable to encrypt connection: A TLS fatal alert has been received.
E [24/May/2020:17:15:47 +0000] [Job 1] Stopping unresponsive job.

That does not sound good.....

Logging is set in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and appears in /var/log/cups.

In case you need further support, please provide additional information like
system, (cups) version, printer, etc
