Unable to print postscript files

Greetings,

I am unable to print postscript files.  When I type in

cat /etc/motd | lpr

It will print perfectly fine.  However, when I try to print from mozilla, or the program `alignmargins` from LinuxPrinting.org, it will not print.  I tried doing

cat align.ps | lpr

but it did nothing.  The lights on the printer will blink, and the logs will show it as having been printed, but it doesn't print.  Since no .ps files print, i suspect this is a post-script problem, but I have no idea.  Any help?
