Could it be a bug?

Recently, one of our authorized user added a new printer to our CUPS_Server_A. When he completed entering all informations, he
selected the Printers button. The server never came back with a
list of printers, it just hangs. And I'm not sure if it's directly
related but on during this time, all our clients "cupsd" daemon
died! We had to kill the cups-polld manually then restarted cups
for each client using the script.

I [11/May/2004:14:05:49 -0500] New printer '10.142.24.54' added by 'root'.

E [11/May/2004:14:33:01 -0500] PID 25683 crashed on signal 9!
I [11/May/2004:14:33:01 -0500] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more.

What I think caused this problem is the user used the IP address as the printer's name. I would think the Name field is defined for any character and even numbers for that matter so this should have worked. But in this case, well, it caused some minor headache. So, beware with your printer naming.

Server is RHEL running CUPS 1.17.
