Placing odd-numbered pages on right side w/ 2-up printing?

I must print documents that have been formatted for 2-sided printing, i.e., into "recto" and "verso" pages.  The problem is that page 1, which traditionally prints on the right side of a two-page spread, is imaged onto the left-half of CUPS's 2-up spreads because it is the first page that CUPS sees.  Can I somehow tell CUPS to pretend that a blank sheet has been inserted before page 1 of the document in order to get the proper 2-up pagination?
