basicdigest authentication problem

hallo there!
we are running cups using basicdigest authentication, we are also running squid using ncsa_auth for authentication. Ncsa_auth uses basic authentication. All users using squid should also be able to use cups. we tried to softlink the squid passwd to passwd.md5, but this doesn't work. Is there any solution using the squid passwd with cups or do we have to use two seperate files.
