Device URI auto changed, usb printer

Hello,

I'm having a strange problem with the linux box of my girlfriend, she has an usb printer, mandrake with cups, I can configure the printer using cups web interface or the mandrake tools, and it works fine, the problem is that when the printer is turned off, or the pc is rebooted with the printer off, the configuration gets all wrong. Here is what I think that is happening:

The Device URI in printers.conf is /dev/usb/lp0, that's ok when the printer is turned off or unplugged the kernel remove that device (/dev/usb/lp0), so cups don't find it and goes back to defaults (/dev/lp0 or something like that)... then when the printer goes on again, /dev/usb/lp0 appears again, but cups keeps his defaults so the printer doesn't work, I then have to reconfigure the printer, restart cups and reboot the pc (don't know why but it doesn't work if I don't reboot)...

Is there a way to tell cups use the Device URI that I tell you no matter what?
