newb needs help with cups

> Just so you know how new i am i dont know the cups password. i pull up the  localhost:631 interface and when i try to do anything it says i need a CUPS username and password. i tried to change the cupsys account pword but it keeps changing back. i also tried other accounts like root and so forth. HELP!!!

Password for cups or any account is never set until you create one and
set the password yourself.

Here's how I did mine:

a. setup cups configuration file to use lp for Group
b. create a user account, say new_account
c. set password for new_account
c. add new_account to the lp group

In your cups configuration file, set access permission to printer
administration functions using the Location directive.

Finally, read the online documentations if you haven't yet. It has tons
of informations that will help you setup cups.
