username/password issue

Please file a bug report with Ubuntu then. For example here:

   https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/cupsys/+filebug

(Ubuntu have heavily modified CUPS, and their version behaves
different in may aspects of CUPS administrative actions due to
them hardwiring cupsd to run as user "cupsys", not "root".)
