[cups.bugs] [HIGH] STR #1426: Scheduler does not follow symlinks in usr/share/cups/model

I have the PPDs which come with HPLIP in the directory

/usr/share/ppd/HP

and make them available to CUPS by setting the symbolic link

ln -s /usr/share/ppd/HP /usr/share/cups/model/foomatic-ppds/HP

This worked fine with CUPS 1.1.23 and earlier and also with earlier CUPS
1.2 snapshots. But with the current CUPS 1.2 rev 5120 (but also earlier
rev 51xx) the symlinks are not followed and I see the HPLIP PPDs only if
they are physically in the

/usr/share/cups/model/foomatic-ppds/HP

directory.

Is this a bug or a feature?
