CUPS printing problem

If you carefully look into your logs, you will find messages from the foomatic-rip like

/dev/fd/3: no such device or directory

and, as a consequence, from ghostscript:

unable to opne initial device, quitting

and so on.

I suspect that your printer was offline or even switched off when booting your system.
Most USB drivers require the devices to be serviced to switched on during boot time for
the system to recognize these.
