Postscript detected as app.../vnc.cups-raw

I've been trying to setup a windows > samba > cups > printer configuration for a few days now, and have not had brilliant success.
The issue I have is that my laserjet printers print lots of pages of postscript commands. I realise that these printers are not suited to postscript level 3 due to their age.
I have a HP Laserjet 5si and HP Laserjet 4L. I'm using the cups v6 windows driver and samba is setup as a raw client. Also I have a HP Laserjet 2100 setup in (what I think) is the same way.
Ok, when I print to the 2100 I see the following in the logs
D [02/Mar/2006:13:01:06 +0000] ReadClient: 6 POST /printers/7418_hp2100 HTTP/1.1
D [02/Mar/2006:13:01:06 +0000] print_job: auto-typing file...
D [02/Mar/2006:13:01:06 +0000] print_job: request file type is application/postscript.
.
.
D [02/Mar/2006:13:01:06 +0000] StartJob: envp[9]="CONTENT_TYPE=application/postscript"
When I print to the 5si, I see this
D [02/Mar/2006:12:22:18 +0000] ReadClient: 9 POST /printers/HPLaserJet5si HTTP/1.1
D [02/Mar/2006:12:22:18 +0000] print_job: request file type is application/vnd.cups-raw.
.
.
D [02/Mar/2006:12:45:00 +0000] StartJob: envp[9]="CONTENT_TYPE=application/vnd.cups-raw"
I have the following set in the HPLaserJet5si.ppd
*cupsFilter: "application/vnd.cups-postscript 0 foomatic-rip"
*cupsFilter: "application/vnd.cups-raw 0 foomatic-rip"
but that doesn't seem to correctly parse it to PCL.
Can I have some pointers so that I can figure this out?
Many Thanks,
Dave Smith
