Kyocera FS-1000 have no output. no errors.

At first,thank you for you help!
I'm sure that the printer is connected and online . My system is REDHAT Linux 9.0 with cups . Yesterday I updated the cups to cups-1.2.4 and ESP ghostscript. but the trouble still exists. I try the following:
[root at FW-Server root]# cat /etc/passwd >/dev/lp0
still have no output .
So In order to confirm the trouble, I have changed the printer from Kyocera FS-1000 to Canon bjc-1000(I install another driver for it .) then it can print normally.
Why the Kyocera FS-1000 can't print anything??
