[STR New]

I run FC5. Yum updated cups to 1.2.3 today. Problems resulted.

Symptom 1 - using Citrix ICAClient ... failed to complete login to
metaframe server.

Symptom 2 - OpenOffice couldn't see my printer.

Symptom 3 - Gedit couldn't see my printer.

Symptom 4 - .... you get the idea.

lpstat hung; lpq hung.

Gnome printing manager seemed OK, but any changes to the printer
preferences appeared to hang (or maybe just took a long time).

Eventually discovered cupsd in what appeared to be a tight processor loop.
CPU = 100%.

Tried deleting and re-defining my printer. No joy.
Reboot, delete, redefine - same result.

Eventually deleted the printer, then rebooted and then re-defined.
Everything now seems OK, including ICAClient (it must look for local
printers as part of process of establishing the metaframe session).

My printer is a HP PSC 1315 (usb) connected via a DLink DI-704UP
router/print server. It's defined as "Networked UNIX (LPD)", queue=lp,
default driver (hpijs).

Could be some kind of .conf problem(?).

I've submitted this as "specific to a machine/printer" because I can't
verify whether it happens outside my environment. However it may apply
more widely.
