[cups.general] PDFs Do Not Print

I decided to deinstall/reinstall Cups, in case that
would help.  But to my surprise, apt-get also tore out
all of KDE!  Every single KDE package was deinstalled.
 I don't understand why Cups is a core dependency of
KDE.
