[cups.general] Printing UTF-8 via command line

Hello,

I have Mac OS 10.5.2. I am wondering how I could print UTF-8 plain text 
files by command line using CUPS.

I tried

 	lpr -o document-format=text/utf8 <UTF-8_FileToPrint>

but lpr tells me that the format "text/utf8" is not supported.
