The Solaris Companion CD contains an SVR4 (read Solaris) package of CUPS
1.3.0. You can get more details, download, and install it from

    http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/companion/
    http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/companion/downloads/

Since it supplies IPP and RFC1179 service, you need to disable the
PAPI/LP based version of them before your run CUPS

    # svcadm disable ipp-listener rfc1179

Also, not that this is your current target, but Solaris Nevada and
current OpenSolaris 2008.05 bits contain CUPS 1.3.7 as an optional print
service that can be used out of the box. I'm considering integrating an
upgrade to 1.3.8 shortly. Switching between LP and CUPS is a matter of
typing "print-service -s (lp|cups)" on Solaris. This causes the correct
services to be disabled and enabled and redirects the print commands to
the LP or CUPS version of the command.

As another fan said, "I googled my eyes out". Is there a known reliable source for CUPS 1.2.x (at least) Solaris 10 binaries?
