[cups.general] cups1.3 issue on Itanium

I have cheated and created the printers on Linux and then copied across
the printers.conf and this works!

 

But the issue with me not being able to login to the cups gui is still
there!

Hello,

 

I have cups1.3 installed on one of my Itanium11.23 servers and I'm
attempting to add a new printer. Each time I try it prompts me for the
root password, I enter the details and it does not log me in. I have
reset the root password, tried a different account and still it does not
allow me to log in.

 

Can someone suggest on how I can resolve this please?

 

It was working a while back as I was able to add a couple of printers!
