Since cupsd disconnects from the console (stdin/out/err) after a successful
initial startup and normally runs in the background anyways, this is not
possible.

You can configure cupsd to use syslog for errors (set ErrorLog to syslog
in cupsd.conf) - then you can configure syslogd to send messages to the
system console at least.
