Updating CUPS from 1.3.9 to 1.4.#

We have PC's running the latest UBUNTU and SUSE Enterprise.  We are attemtping to upgrade to CUPS 1.4.1.  We followed instructions from /cups-1.4.1/ :
./configure
make
make install
/usr/sbin/cupsd

However, the CUPS main page still shows driver version 1.3.9.
Other pages, such as:
http://localhost:631/admin
http://localhost:631/printers
http://localhost:631/jobs

etc... all show CUPS 1.4.1

Any suggestions for completing a full update of CUPS?  With a MAC we achieved this successfully by moving to Snow Leopard but updates to UBUNTU and SUSE Enterprise are not moving the CUPS version.
