Since ubuntu 11.10 CUPS is problematic

Hi,

Sorry for the double post, I thought my computer had hung. Perhaps the moderators might like to remove one.

Now, to cut to the chase, is there nobody who has experienced the same (or similar) problem to me. Or, is there anybody who might be able to offer some advice on how to edit the config file (if that is the way to go). My understanding of printer interfaces is truly very limited and any help would be much appreciated.

Unpredictably (to me, at least) the printer goes into pause mode or hold setting, and I have to either cancel the job or try some other ad hoc action, like turning the printer off and on. I can't be much more specific because I'm not that conversant with printer software.
