Printer Driver for MG5350?

Hi all, new here

Currently using CUPS 1.4.6 on Salix 13.37, recently bought a Canon MG5350 MFD to replace an older Canon that worked perfectly with CUPS.  No drivers in CUPS and Canon only supply pre-compies for RPM and DEB based systems.  I downloaded and unpacked the source archive cnijfilter-source-3.60-1.tar.gz and tried to follow the instructions (I'm new to Linux in general).  I can now see the ppd file for the printer, but when I try to print to it I get an error.  Looking at the log file I see the following:

I have done the autogen.sh, make, make install sequence on the following folders:
Backend
backendnet
cnijfilter
libs
ppd
pstocanonij

What am I doing wrong?  Are there any pre-compiled drivers for this printer under CUPS? Can anyone help?
