Trouble adding printer

Thanks, so much, for your reply.

Why would there be a permission problem configuring the 4M Plus and none with the Officejet 5610?  Same computer, same OS different printers?  And the same method of configuration with both...

I'm not a Linux Wizard with the terminal and only go there if there are some very good logical reasons for doing that.  I don't see that here.  Please do correct me if my thinking is wrong on this.
