[cups] cupsd (1.7.2) deleting (raw, networked) printers from /etc/cups/printers.conf

What would cause the cupsd daemon to delete printers from 
/etc/cups/printers.conf? I am using the *stock* cups package on Ubuntu 14.04 
(amd64).
