Hmm - then it is strange - you say the version string in index.html is
correct, but the version string in index.html you load in a browser is
incorrect... are you sure you configured CUPS with the same docdir as
2.3.1? It seems you load either a different index.html, or you are
running different CUPS on localhost:631 imo.
