Excessive CPU usage in web admin when adding printer

OK, so I get something like that now in error.log:

W [28/Jun/2004:15:29:53 -0400] Max clients reached, holding new connections...
W [28/Jun/2004:15:29:54 -0400] Resuming new connection processing...

It seems like when I try to save the printer configuration, there are a bunch of connections made to the server, which would explain the CPU load.

Now, what's next???
